First player’s always on me…
#16. Francisco Lindor, NYM, SS — (689 PA; .273 BA, 107 R, 91 RBI, 33 HR, 29 SB)
Francisco Lindor’s habitually docked into the second round of fantasy drafts despite being one of the most consistent 5x5 producers in the game. Are we still really docking this guy for a disappointing season back in 2021? I don’t get it.
Lindor brings the whole package to the fantasy table every single day, hitting atop a plus lineup for an aggressive owner with a willingness to spend. Point being, those counting stats are safe and snug. And at 31 years old, we’re still firmly in the window to expect exactly what we got last year… and the year before that… and the year before that.
Dangerous from both sides of the dish devoid of any obvious flaws, Lindor’s increased his barrel rate each of the last five seasons — without sacrificing anything in terms of approach. Not only is he aggressive at the plate, but combines a career 16.2% K rate with lift (43.2% Flyball), power (13.4% Barrel, .407 xwOBAcon), plus pull (14.8% PFBLD). Put me down for 30 dongs minimum with a chance to sniff 40 if he runs hot on barrels.
Frankly, I’m a bit surprised to see his projections calling for three-year lows across the board, especially in terms of home runs. Lindor hit 60 bombs over his last two years in New York on a league-average 55.9% Barrel:HR conversion rate. Since joining the Mets, Lindor’s improved every year and I don’t see anything in the underlying stats to keep him from going 30/30 again. He finished as the 8th-best hitter in roto formats yet his ADP remains the same as 2024. Go figure.
Considering the shortstop cliff around pick 50, I’m looking to lock up a premier player at a premier position that checks off all five categorical boxes — allowing drafters to keep all options open down the road. No chance Francisco Lindor is getting past me in the second round. Let’s go, Frankie baby.
